National Cathedral construction to resume – Board Chairman

The construction of the National Cathedral is set to resume soon, according to the board chairman, Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah.

The announcement was made after a meeting held on September 20 between the Board of Directors of the National Cathedral of Ghana and auditors from audit firm Deloitte.

During the meeting, church leaders were briefed on the statutory audit report, which covers the financial activities of the project from its inception up to December 31, 2020.

Deloitte Ghana completed the audit, providing clarity on the project’s financial dealings.

The audit was initiated by the board following public concerns over alleged corruption and questionable spending related to the cathedral’s construction.

The decision to authorise an independent review aimed to address these allegations and ensure transparency.

In a statement issued on September 24, Apostle Onyinah confirmed that the audit report is now complete.

This development paves the way for the project’s construction to restart after delays caused by financial scrutiny.

With the audit finalised, the board is expected to move forward with construction, addressing the concerns raised by the public and restoring confidence in the project.
