NPP’s Dr. Opoku Prempeh Condemns Mahama’s Insults to Chiefs and Clergy

Ashanti Region, Ghana – New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has denounced former President John Mahama’s labeling of clergy, civil society organizations, and traditional leaders as “hypocrites” for praying for the NPP’s running mate.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Ofoase, Juaben Constituency, Dr. Prempeh expressed concern over Mahama’s rhetoric, stating it undermines the dignity of the office he previously held.

Dr. Prempeh emphasized the vital role traditional authorities, clergy, and civil society organizations play in preserving unity and moral fabric, ensuring inclusion and cohesion. He appealed to these groups to refrain from supporting Mahama in the upcoming elections.

The NPP Vice Presidential Candidate defended his party’s achievements, noting they have outperformed the previous administration in several key areas. He highlighted the NPP’s humility and respect for traditional leaders, imams, and clergy.

Dr. Prempeh urged Ghanaians to vote for the NPP, citing their genuine respect for the people. He underscored the importance of leadership that values and respects traditional and religious institutions.

During his visit to Kumawu and Oyoko, Dr. Prempeh interacted with chiefs, religious leaders, and students. Kumawumanhene, Barima Sarfo Tweneboah Kodua, praised the NPP for developmental projects in the area, including an ultra-modern hospital and roads.
