‘You will get 100% internet coverage when I become President’ – Bawumia promises Ghanaians

The vice president of Ghana and flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised to provide 100% internet connectivity for the nation if elected president in the next 2024 elections.

During a campaign event, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the advancements made by his administration in increasing internet coverage, pointing out that it was just 32% when the NPP took office.

“When we assumed office, internet coverage was at a mere 32%. Today, we have increased it to 73%, and we are committed to achieving full coverage.

“I want the internet coverage in Ghana to be 100 percent. When we came into government it was 32% and Today it’s 72 percent and when I become President I will take it to 100%,” he said.

The vice president’s pledge, which aims to use digital technology to promote national development, is a major component of his campaign. Dr. Bawumia hopes to establish Ghana as an African leader in digital infrastructure with this audacious objective.

The NPP’s broader agenda of digital transformation, which includes projects in e-governance, digital financial services, and technology-driven education, is emphasized by its commitment to increasing internet access.
