Smuggling Criminals Busted by Security Agencies

Four suspects who had been on the Police wanted list claiming to be businessmen have been apprehended by the Security agencies.

The four suspects are Dauda Adeleke, a Gabonese national, Kwame Francois an Ivorian agent, Modon Diop and Ass Diagne both Senegalese, are alleged to have smuggled goods from Abidjan to Accra. The vehicle they use in their operations, a Mitsubishi Pajero, has equally been apprehended.

According to the Security agencies’ information, the suspects were able to carry out the smuggling activity through the help of Kwame Francois who has his accomplice here in Ghana to the Airport where they were trying to smuggle these goods from Accra to Dakar, Senegal.

Upon a tip-off about this smuggling, the National Security, joined with other Security agencies, carried out their arrest in an intelligent operation at the Kotoka International Airport.

Documents seized from Kwame Francois revealed that the goods belonged to Modon Diop with address as, “11 Route De Rufisque Dakar Senegal,” and Dauda Adeleke as his partner. Kwame Francois and Ass Diagne are their accomplices and are on bail while investigation is ongoing. Meanwhile, the two who have been granted bail, are at large and have run out of the country.

The police are still investigating to ascertain the veracity or otherwise, the true identities of the suspect in order to be sure whether the names provided are their real names, and have consequently contacted the Immigration Service for verification.

The security agency is putting all measures together with the Interpol to re-arrest these suspects (Kwame Francois, Modon Diop and Ass Diagne) even from their countries.

Similarly, information gathered from previous investigation revealed that there is another suspect whose name and identity has not been confirmed. However, the security agency is doing everything possible to ensure the arrest of all suspects.
