Racecourse fire: Some people were pelting stones at us to stop fighting the fire for all the other shops to also burn because theirs got burnt – Fire Officer Reveals
The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Fire Service in the Ashanti Region DO3 Peter Addai has revealed that while fighting the RaceCourse Market fire outbreak on Monday morning some individuals were pelting stones at them to stop.
Speaking on Kessben FM’s Breaking News with Nyakoh Aboronomah, DO3 Peter Addai divulged that the individuals insisted that they should allow the fire to spread to other shops because theirs had been burnt.
The fire which started in the early hours of Monday morning destroyed approximately 180 shops in the market.
DO3 Pater Addai confirmed that the attacks on their men resulted in injuries and they had to transport some of the officials to the hospital for treatment.
He added that with the help of the community volunteers who were around 5 of the people who attacked the fire officers were arrested and are currently in police cells arraigned for court.
