Pressure mounts on Parliament to release report on plot to remove IGP

The Executive Director for Governance Advocacy, Listowel Nana Kusi is mounting pressure on Parliament to release its report from the Adhoc Committee that sat on the move to remove the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

An Adhoc Committee of Parliament was set up by the Speaker of Parliament to investigate leaked audio, which was part of attempts to remove the IGP.

The audio, which was recorded by Bugri Naabu, saw a retired police officer, COP George Alex Mensah, and another police officer plotting the removal of George Akuffo Dampare, PhD.

After weeks of investigations, Parliament seems to be silent on the outcome of the committee’s investigation.

Addressing the press on Wednesday, Listowel Nana Kusi indicated that it has taken a long time for a report to be released, even though the work of the committee has ended.

He was of the view that there are high-profile people who are pulling strings to ensure that the report is not made public.

“I will call on the Right Honourable Speaker to do the needful by presenting the report of the ad-hoc committee that was set up by him to probe…The report is a very important document that must come to the public for scrutiny,” he told the press.
