We’re not here for vacation – Madagascar coach warns Ghana

The coach of Madagascar, Romuald Rakotondrabe has warned Ghana ahead of the match against Ghana at the Baba Yara Stadium 2026 World Cup qualifier on Friday, 17th November 2023.

He made it apparent that his team had traveled to Kumasi with the intention of winning the vital game, not to take a vacation.

“We didn’t come to Ghana for holidays,” Rakotondrabe said during the pre-match press conference. To win the game, that is why we came” He said.

This match is the first for both teams in the qualification process for the 2026 World Cup, which the United States, Mexico, and Canada will co-host.

Two of the meetings between Ghana and Madagascar occurred during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying season. The return leg resulted in a scoreless draw, while the Black Stars prevailed 3-0 in Cape Coast.

“It’s very true that the last time we beat Ghana was in 2015, and that was a friendly. We are going to do everything possible to defeat Ghana on Friday.”

“I can never judge the Black Stars based on two friendlies. Friendlies are different from qualifiers,” he added.
