Fifteen (15) years old Junior High School(JHS) student David Laari has drowned in River Owabi in Dabaa in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.

The deceased was reported to have gone to River Owabi with his friend to swim when the unfortunate incident happened on Monday November 7, 2022

Former Assemblyman of the area speaking with Kessben TV said “the team struggled before they were able to retrieve the body of the deceased after the chief of Dabaa performed some rituals”

“The students went to school and they were told that teachers are on strike so they closed. If the students were in school this unfortunate incident wouldn’t have happened” he lamented

The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), and Coalition of Concerned Teachers, Ghana (CCT) had been on strike since November 4, 2022.

The teacher unions declared a sit-down strike on November 4, protesting the appointment of Dr. Eric Nkansah as the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service.
