Amansie Central: Health director of Watreso cautions residents of syphilis outbreak
The Health Director of Watereso in the Amansei South District of the Ashanti region of Ghana National Community Health Planning And Services ( CHPS Compound), Ziafo Ephraim Rose has cautioned the residents especially the youth in the said district to be extra careful about the outbreak of Syphilis in the community.
According to her, Syphilis is a disease that can cause mayhem in one’s life and when it continues like that, the country is at risk.
Speaking to the Kessben news team, Mrs. Ephraim reiterated that the outbreak is a result of the illegal mining activities popularly known as Galamsey in the area.
She said the Galamsey operations in the area have brought a lot of indigenes from other districts, regions, and countries thereby increasing the number of people in the area, hence, the disease.
She indicated that, at times the ladies resort to men all in the Name of money, and in the end, they contracted the disease.
She urged the residents to always visit the hospital regularly to check their health status when the need arises in other to find the remedy for any hidden disease.
Mrs. Rose Ephraim who was speaking with Kessben news reporters at Manso Watereso called on the stakeholders which include Nananom, health Directors, government to intervene, if not the situation will get out of hand.
Some of the workers at the CHPS Compound also called on the government through the Health Ministry to assist them with hospital pieces of equipment and nurses’ bungalows.
