First review of the IMF program in Ghana to begin on September 25

The Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta says Ghana’s first review of the ongoing 3biliion dollars loan program will commence from September 25, 2023 by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to him, this review is relevant for the release of the second piece of the 600 million dollars out of the 3bililion dollars loan to the government to enable the government to proceed with its post-COVID-19 program which will contribute to the economic growth of Ghana.

“There are a lot of conditions to be met but we are working assiduously to make sure that we meet that and we have gone a long way to be ready for the mission” He said.

Moving further he explained that he has confidence in the fact that they will be able to reach a level of staff agreement which will warrant the government to go to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) board this coming November.

” We have proven that as a country, we are moving in the right direction and prepared to make difficult decisions” He added.
