Ex-boxer punches his wife into a coma over a TV remote
A 56-year-old former professional boxer was detained in the state of Ondo for reportedly knocking his wife Tinuke into a coma after she refused to give him the remote control for the television.
Reports state that the event took place at their home, located at No. 9 Odama Street in Akure’s Oke-Aro Community.
On the fatal day, Olopade, a truck driver who works in the country’s north, was said to have come home from a trip and wanted to watch a television show.
According to reports, he begged his 44-year-old wife to give him the TV remote but she refused.
In a fit of rage, Olopade repeatedly punched the wife, causing her to collapse and lose consciousness.
After their kids fled crying for help, the wife had to be rescued by neighbors from her husband.
The woman was found unconscious on the floor when the neighbors burst into the house to save her. They immediately transported her to the nearest hospital.
