Xi and Putin discuss return visit on second day of Moscow talks
- Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin are beginning a second day of talks as part of the Chinese president’s state visit to Moscow
- Yesterday Putin welcomed his “dear friend” to the Kremlin, and the pair held more than four hours of informal talks
- According to Russian state media, Xi has invited the Russian leader to visit Beijing sometime this year
- There are concerns that China’s support for Russia – currently based on technology and trade – might become military
- Meanwhile in Kyiv, Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will today make a surprise visit for talks with President Zelensky
- The International Criminal Court last week issued an arrest warrant for President Putin for alleged war crimes in Ukraine.
