Miss Mercy Gilbert Receives International Woman Of The Year Honours

The founder of Gilbert Media Group and BABFORUM, Miss Mercy Gilbert this year at the 11th Onyx Media awards, received the Honours as the International woman of the year, 2023.

The event which was led by the President of Onyx Magazine, Mr Rich Black hosted Gilbert and her Royal team of broadcasters including Ian Pelham Turner who has been a Royal photographer over the past 50 years. He was also an anchor for the Royal wedding of Morgan and Prince Harry not excluding the Queen’s funeral. He has also been marked as one of the anchors for the coronation of King Charles of England on behalf of NBC.

Mercy Gilbert who is also Chairman of Conservative Ward, one of the strongest seats for the Conservative Party in the UK gave an excellent speech after receiving the award prides herself in building legacy and giving back to the society because she believes all must be treated equally.

Thus, she has partnered with some top universities in the UK and is working with women in Congress to give scholarships to Black students in the USA. She is looking forward to launching 5,000 Role Models in the UK, where young aspirants will be taken on exchange programs to the White House. Mercy dreams of creating more of the likes of Michelle Obama and Vice President of United States, Her Excellency Kamila Harris within the UK and African continent where she believes having a role model is key.

Miss Mercy Gilbert, originally from Zimbabwe believes Africa is the future, with the continent’s rich resources, minerals and wealth. 

Miss Gilbert believes she is able to play a pivoted key role in unlocking opportunities and bridging the gap that is starting to close with the West, starting from Post Covid including the African Trade agreement. She is optimistic that it is the new era for Africa to rise.

Miss Gilbert was honoured alongside Trisha Bailey, the richest woman in Jamaica. Some VIP guests included Her Excellency First Lady of Jamaica, Juliet Holness and cast from the Real Housewives of Tampa. The event was a star studded one with celebrities and politicians in attendance.

Miss Gilbert is also the Chief Executive Officer of the British African Business Forum, a bilateral chamber dedicated to increasing trade and investment between Africa and the United Kingdom. 

This chamber has a major objective of connecting African Businesses and leaders to their counterparts across the continents. The BABFORUM will hold its annual conference themed the ‘UK-AFRICAN HERITAGE CONFERENCE’, it will see Royals of Africa meet for an investment summit. It will run from 9th to the 13th of May, 2023 in the United Kingdom.
