Kumasi Asafo: Man beaten to death after stealing a ‘VIP bus’ at transport yard
A young man in his mid-30s was allegedly beaten to death after attempting to steal a Grand Bird bus in Asafo, Ashanti Regional capital of Kumasi.
According to sources, the deceased entered the V.I.P Transport Company terminal at 4 a.m., started the bus in question, and attempted to drive away with the Grand Bird bus with registration number GE 2304-10.
As the driver’s assistant of the aforementioned bus became aware of the situation, he pursued the suspect in a tricycle with the assistance of some members of the public.
The dead attempted to flee the moving bus at one point, but was grabbed by the mob, who subjected him to harsh beatings.
The bus is said to have damaged a car in the neighborhood before coming to a halt.
The police at Asokwa have subsequently sent the body of the deceased who died as a result of the mob activity to a morgue for preservation and investigation.
