We don’t interfere in coaches’ selection but you don’t sit for things to spoil – Nana Kwame Nketiah
Nana Kwame Nketiah, CEO of Berekum Chelsea, has refuted reports that CEOs of Ghana Premier League clubs interfere in coach selections before and during matches.
The CEO, on the other hand, claims that they only advise what they believe will be beneficial to the club as a whole, while simultaneously keeping their surveillance lenses on.
Nana Kwame Nketiah stated on Kessben FM’s Midfield Action with Sir Joe Laka that as the club’s CEO, he would not sit back and allow things to get nasty, which is why they frequently recommend to coaches to utilize particular players.
“If it was not me, Kofi Owusu would have long quit football. He has played for Berekum Chelsea and I have helped him a lot by making coaches understand him better.
We don’t select players for the coaches, We only suggest to them based on our observations as well. Most of these Ghanaian clubs don’t have technical directors so as CEO we do sometimes suggest to them. Is that interference?
If I’m around and monitor the training of the team and know this player can play and I make suggestions based on that, I don’t think is an interference, that’s where you suggest. You don’t sit for things to get spoiled” He said.
Kofi Owusu former player of Berekum Chelsea in an interview with Kessben TV emphatically stated that 90% of Club CEOs in Ghana make selections for coaches.
