Elembele: Ghana Immigration Service arrest 31 prostitutes

31 people have been detained by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) Western Regional Command through its Axim Sector Command on suspicion of participating in prostitution and human trafficking at the infamous Bafana Bafana Resort in the Ellembelle District and Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region.

The two-day intelligence-led operation began with a swoop on the said brothel and some adjourning drinking bars and makeshift structures within the Essiama enclave, resulting in the arrest of the suspects aged between 22 years and 37 years.

The owner and manager of the facility, Mr. Kofi Bekoe, 62, was among the 17 suspects/victims who were detained as a result of the operation, which lasted for many hours.

Later on Saturday evening and early on Sunday morning, the other 12 people as well as the two suspected human trafficking partners were apprehended in two different mop-up operations.

The suspects are still being held in the Western Regional Command Headquarters for additional inquiries, legal action, and eventual repatriation.
