'We know where kidnapped girls are, but rescue would be too dangerous', Nigerian military claims

Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff said this was “good news for the parents”.
Reports say that a deal to release some of the girls was about to be finalised, when it was called off by the government. The deal was allegedly to free some of the girls in exchange for the release of 100 Boko Haram members being held by government.
But the government cancelled the planned agreement shortly before the swap was due to take place. It is thought that a meeting in Paris where Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan and other leadersagreed a global and regional action plan against Boko Haram may have influenced the decision to call off the deal.
The 200 girls, who were mainly Christian, were taken from their school in Chibok, in north-eastern Borno state in April and are thought to be held in a remote forested area of the state, close to the border with Chad and Cameroon.
The UK, the US, China and France are among the countries have sent teams of experts and equipment to help to locate them.
