Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly Organises Town Hall Meeting
The Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly has organised its town hall meeting at the Nantoma Presbyterian Church in Kanda, a suburb of Accra.
The meeting forms part of the initiatives by the Assembly to engage and interact with residents in the community on social and economic issues and serve also as a platform for the citizenry to express the views and opinions on developmental projects within the jurisdiction of the Assembly.
Speaking at the town hall meeting, the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly, Hon. Hajia Salma Mohammed Sani Kuta said the Local Governance Services Act (Act 936) mandates all Metropolitan and Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to engage the citizenry and account for their stewardship of their respective Assemblies.
According to her, the cooperation among the good people of Nima and Kanda is very fruitful and have enhanced the bond of relationship between the Assembly and its environs.
She explained that there are challenges in municipality but the Assembly have done its possible best to provide the needed socio-economic infrastructures for the Municipality.
The Metropolitan Chief Executive mentioned sanitation, youth employment, absence of Senior High School, deplorable roads among others saying the Assembly is working fervently refurbishing and constructing new ones.
She urged the citizenry to exercise their civic duties by paying their levies to the Assembly for developmental projects and to go on effectively and efficiently, adding that the doors of the Assembly are always open for discussions and deliberations on issues.
For her part, the Head of Advisory Center of the Ghana Enterprises Agency, Madam Stephania Amponsah urged the youth to take advantage of government programme on “You Start” saying it is a project for the youth to be trained and acquire hands on skills to create their own jobs.
She said the project is supported by the World Bank targeting 50,000 youth from the age bracket of 14 to 40 years as training is provided in skills development as well as start-ups to engage in trade and business.
In his remarks, Ing. Kelly Davidson of Accra East division of Electricity Company of Ghana, Roman Ridge assured the members of the Municipality of the supply of prepaid meters to people how are having challenges of their meters saying his outfits have received complains and will comply accordingly.
He however urged all not to tamper with the prepaid meter but report all challenges to the office for redress or visit their website on all information on power issues.
