Bible Society of Ghana Celebrates 57th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service

The Bible Society of Ghana has held its 57th anniversary thanksgiving service with the call on Christians to join the society to propagate the works of God in the country and beyond.

The BSG is a non-denomination, interdenominational and non-profit making Christian organisation with voluntary membership from Churches and Christians in the country.

Speaking at the thanksgiving service at Global Revival Ministries Church at Haatso Atomic in Accra under the theme, “Celebrating the Goodness of the Lord”, the General Secretary of the Bible Society of Ghana, Rev. Dr. Enoch Aryee-Atta said the Holy book must be seen in every household as it addresses all human issues spiritually.

According to him, the Bible have played a significant role in all human endeavours and have transformed people particularly Christians in the demonstration of their values and virtues of the Christian faith.

“The primary goal of the Society is to make the Bible available for everyone on the belief systems of also making God’s word available, affordable and usable to transform and impact lives”, he said.

Throwing more light on the translation of the Bible into nine (9) major Ghanaian languages, he mentioned Nzema, Esahie, Mfantse, Ga, Dangme, Akuapem Twi, Asante Twi, Ewe and Dagbani as well as the Gurune New Testament which was launched on the 14th of November, 2021 at Bolgatanga in the Upper east Region for reading by the indigenes.

On the introduction of Diglot Bible which comprises of English and a local language in one Bible, the General Secretary said the Ga-ESV Diglot was launched on 27th of March, 2022 at Peniel Congregation at Teshie, adding that the Ewe-ESV Diglot will roll out in the country by 2023 with Asante Twi ESV currently at BSG outlets across the country.

Turning the spotlight on the BSG, “One Million Bibles Project”, Rev. Dr. Enoch Aryee-Atta said the Society have put in place measures and structures to distribute one (1) million Bibles to Basic school pupils, upper primary to Junior High School (JHS) 3 within two years at Ghc 30.00 each to challenge the pupils to experience the life transforming power of God’s Word.

“The gesture will also help curb the high level of indiscipline in basic to Senior High Schools (SHS) and to raise also an array of future leaders with integrity in service for the country”, he added.

In a sermon, the Founder and General Overseer of the Global Revival Ministries, Rev. Dr. Robert Ampiah Kwofi said despite the current economic challenges, Ghanaians must still have faith in the Almighty God for He will meet the citizenry at the point of their needs.

He assured Ghanaians that in the midst of the economic challenges God is there to see them through and advised that the public should continue to wait upon the Lord stressing that the battle is the Lord’s.

He however urged benevolent societies to support the good works of the Bible Society of Ghana to spread the Good News to every part of the country.
