Intensify agitations for your allowances – Brogya Genfi charges nurse, teacher trainees

An aspiring National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Brogya Genfi, has charged nurse and teacher trainees across the country to intensify their agitation in order to get the government to pay their allowances.

In a statement issued on Monday, September 5, the former Ashanti Region NDC Youth Organiser said government’s failure to honour its promise is “spiraling out of control”.

He indicated that trainees in teacher and nurse training schools are owed five months of allowances.

But he said it is surprising given the assurances and promises by the President and Vice President during their 2016 electioneering campaign.

“The President and his Vice have refused to pay heed to all efforts by the trainees to get the allowances paid,” Brogya Genfi wrote.

“It’s becoming obvious government is intentionally frustrating these Teacher and Nursing Trainees.”

He, therefore, gave them this admonition: “The Trainees are therefore encouraged to increase the tempo of agitations on various campuses to get government to listen by paying the huge arrears of the allowances.”

He added that “no money for food, stationery, payment of fees and general upkeep as parents and benefactors who support these Trainees have been worst hit by the current economic crisis”.
