Elizabeth Sackey Gets 100 % votes in her confirmation

All the 30 Assembly members who took part in the confirmation exercise at the AMA office in Accra voted en bloc for the on going MMDCEs confirmation in the country. The election that was conducted by the Electoral Commission officer went on so smooth and cordial in an atmosphere of unity and peace. The Presiding officer who conducted affairs called the meeting to order after all protocols and introductions have been made.

Soon after the election took place amidst singing and cat calls amongst the members. After the last votes, counting followed that pointed to overwhelming victory for the nominee. After the announcement of her confirmation, the newly confirmed Lady Mayor gave her acceptance speech. She thanked the Assembly, the Regional Minister, The President of the land and all people who helped her to come that far. She called for the cooperation of the Assembly members , staff, MPs in her Metropolis as well as all chiefs, Queen mothers, opinion leaders to support and team up to help develop the metropolis.

She promised to address the problems of the metropolis with her team to uplift the Ga state to a befitting state. She paid a glowing tributes to all past Mayors who were all there to grace the occasion . She recognized the enormity of the challenges but assured the gathering that every sinew would be stretched to work hard to realise the goals of the Assembly.

In his remarks, the Regional Minister, Hon Henry Quartet advised the newly crowned MCE to do a lot of consultation and listening to win the hearts and minds of her Assembly members and the powers that be. He asked her to carry her humility to every one . Try to open your arms to every one who knocks on your door and share the little you have to everyone .

Once you are the mother of the metropolis, everyone will try to pull you from all angles but try to tolerate and don’t discriminate”, he advised her . The regional minister minister asked her to devise new methods of revenue mobilisation that eluded the outgone mayor as a result of pilfering and stealing. He proposed the idea of assigning the assembly members to demarcate the metropolis into zones for revenue collection points at a commission .

He assured her of his support to make Ga State work. He thanked all the assembly members for their full support without party colours. The minister called for unity in all national issue to move that nation forward . “What l have seen here today must transcend in our political encounters in our everyday political situation to enable our country develop.

Am so happy for AMA assembly today and let’s continue like that in future irrespective of the party in power ; after all one good turn deserves another “, he philosophized

Meanwhile ,all the former mayors ; Adjiri Blankson, Okoe Vanderpuje, ET Mensah, Nii Armartefio, and Mohammed Adjei Sowah attended and they all pledged their unflinching support and advice for her. Better still all the three constituencies MPs were also there to give her moral support.
