Hearts have not disrespected anyone by playing with their junior side, GHALCA disrespected themselves by changing it to Top 6 – Sam Johnson
Former Black Stars defender, Sam Johnson says the organizers of the GHALCA Top 6 disrespected themselves by tinkering with the number of the teams which ought to have played the 4 mini-tournament.
Accra Hearts of Oak have apparently been accused of disrespecting the tournament after fielding their junior squad to play the tournament.
Asante Kotoko were to be part of this year’s GHALCA top 4-tournament but pulled out from the competition after the organizers, GHALCA added two more teams to make it 6 teams. Kotoko however said they pulled out purely on sporting grounds.
The idea to change it to GHALCA Top 6 by the organizers was to have Accra Hearts who finished 6th in the 2021-22 Ghana premier league participate in the tournament.
After Kotoko pulled out from the tournament, Berekum Chelsea, who finished seventh on the league table last season replaced Asante Kotoko in the tournament.
The tournament since it started last week has not lived up to its billing and many have accused Hearts of Oak the biggest team participating in this year’s tournament of disrespecting the tournament as the Phobians had been playing with their Junior side.
Sam Johnson speaking on Kessben FM’s Extra Time Sports said no one should accuse Hearts of Oak of disrespecting the tournament but should finger the organizes who first disrespected themselves by changing the number of teams that were supposed to compete.
