The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ofosu Ampofo has said that Government’s directives are influencing the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
The EC apparently warned prospective voters to obtain a Ghana Card noting that, that will be a requirement for registration to get a voter’s card.
The Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) Dr. Bossman Asare indicated that without a Ghana Card, one will not be registered to vote.
Mr. Ofosu Ampofo speaking on Kessben FM’s Maakye with Kwame Appiah Kubi stressed that the position of the EC about the Ghana card regarding registration is not well thought through.
Ofosu Ampofo underscored that the spirit with which the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) was formed has now been thrown away under Jean Mensah.
He said the EC does not regard the IPAC with any respect anymore, a reason why the NDC has stopped attending IPAC engagements.
Ofosu Ampofo believed the latest move of the EC to make the Ghana card requirement for registration is a directive by the Government thus being manipulated.
