Aglogold Ashanti launches 10 years Social economic development plan to improve quality of life in Obuasi
AngloGold Ashanti Ghana has launched 10 years socio-economic development plan to bring development and diversify the local economy of communities in its catchment areas.
The 10 years Social economic development plan launched under the theme of contributing to resilient and social economically self-sustaining communities will contribute to diversifying the local economy through the design and implementation of innovative interventions in collaboration with stakeholders.
These interventions considered education, business development and farming among others as the 3 years Social Management Plan comes to an end this year.
Speaking at the colourful ceremony at Obuasi AGA school park on Thursday, July, 7, Ashanti Regional Minister Hon Simmon Osei Mensah in his keynote address said the coming back AGA has had positive changes in the lives of people in Obuasi and it catchment areaa through social-economic ways like education, Health, Technology and Innovation, Farming, creation of jobs to the youth and amongst others by their three years development plan.
Regional Minister was assured that this 10 years Social economic development plan will be very fruitful in the lives of residents of Obuasi and its environs, so appealed to the youth to desist from impeding AGA with galamsey activities and cooperate with the mining for their own well-being.
Opagyakotwere Afriyie Bonsra II, Adansehene commended AGA for their support to Adansiman and reiterated the merits they have received from the coming back of AGA. Adansehene inquired the district assembly to point out developmental projects from the royalties the assembly gained from the mining company.
Mr Emmanuel Baidoo, Sustainability Manager of Aglogold in a sideline interview explained to the media the reason of bringing the 10 years Social economic development plan.
