Over 30 students of the Islamic Senior High Students in Kumasi have been admitted to the hospital after the police allegedly fired tear gas at them during a protest.

The students on Monday morning demonstrated over the call for speed ramps to be constructed on the road in front of the school campus.

One of their teachers is reported to have been knocked by a speeding vehicle last week which triggered Monday’s demonstration.

Kessben FM’s reporter Malam Yaya reporting from the school campus noted that over 30 students who collapsed during the protest have been hospitalized and are currently receiving treatment.

Some of the students also confirmed that the police also splash pepper spray at them during the course of the protest.
