‘My parents are sad that I’m not currently part of the Black Stars team but I don’t regret choosing Ghana over Netherlands’ – Edwin Gyasi

Netherlands-born Ghanaian footballer, Edwin Gyasi has disclosed that his parents are somehow sad about his snub from the current Black Stars team.

The Beitar Jerusalem winger however says he does not regret choosing Ghana over the Netherlands in spite of not earning Black Stars call up in recent times.

Edwin, who has had 5 caps for the Ghana senior national football team says, he is hopeful time will give him the chance to get his way back into the Black Stars team.

The former Aalesund, Telstar, De Graafschap, FC Twente and Heracles Almelo forward speaking on Kessben FM’s Final Whistle with Joe Laka stressed that though his parents are somehow sad about his neglect from the current Black Stars team, he has no regrets over his decision to opt for Ghana as he’s hopeful of working hard to get back into the team.

He revealed that former Ghana forward Quincy Owusu Abeyie inspired him to have opted for Ghana.

“I played my 1st game for Ghana against Congo in the Worldcup Qualifies and it felt really like home. My parents were so happy that I was wearing the Black Stars jersey representing Ghana but now they are sad because I’m not currently part of the team.

I don’t regret choosing Ghana over the Netherlands, Quincy Owusu Abeyie inspired me with my decision to play for Ghana, there can only be more caps ahead and I absolutely have no regrets choosing Ghana over the Netherlands” Gyasi said.
