Black Stars Squad: No local Goalkeeper is good enough to come ahead of the 4 invited – Newton Lartey

Kessben Sports pundit, video analyst Peter Newton Lartey has stated that no local Goalkeeper can break into the current Black Stars team.

Ghana Black Stars’ head coach on Thursday 26th May 2022 announced a 33-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the international friendlies.

The squad had four goalkeepers in the squad including Wollacott of Swindon Town, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen of Eupen, Richard Ofori of Orlando Pirates and Lawrence Ati Zigi of St. Gallen.

Newton reckons currently, there is no local goalkeeper who is better than the four who were invited

Prior to the announcement of the squad, hopes were high about having a local Goalkeeper in the squad. Kotoko’s Danlad Ibrahim and Hearts of Oak’s Richard Attah were touted to be on the list but unfortunately missed out.
