Ranking member of parliament select committee on education reveals why there are still no textbooks for basic schools in Ghana(Video)

Ranking Member of the parliament select committee on Education has divulged why there have not been textbooks for basic schools in Ghana for 3 years.

Since the Ghana Education Service in collaboration with the Ministry of Education changed the curriculum for basic education in Ghana 3 years ago, there has been no textbook for learners.

Various explanations have been given in the past as to why the delay in having textbooks for the learners.

The rep of the Ministry of Education Kwasi Kwarteng early this year confirmed to Kessben TV that the contract of publishing the textbooks was given to the local contractor.

He indicated that due to the COVID 19 outbreak in 2020, the equipment and materials which ought to have been imported by the local publisher in Ghana were delayed.

However, the ranking member of the parliament select committee on education, Hon. Peter Kotoe speaking with Kwame Appiah Kubi on Kessben Maakye was blunt to stress that the delay is a result of financial challenges.
