Last time Ghana lost at Baba Yara was 22 years ago – Kessben FM’s Awal Mohammed provides intriguing history of Ghana games in Kumasi
One of Ghana’s finest football historians with Kessben Media, Awal Mohammed Hudu has divulged that the last time Ghana Black Stars lost a qualifying game at the then Kumasi Sports stadium, now Baba Yara sports stadium dates back 22 years ago.
The young football historian speaking with Oheneba Kwame Nyame alias Kwame Mikki on Kessben FM’s Extra Time sports show after CAF confirmed the Baba Yara sports stadium to be used for the first leg of the 2022 Qatar playoff game with Nigeria recounted that Ghana last lost a qualifying game at the Baba Yara stadium in the year 2000.
He stated that the Baba Yara sports stadium has been a spirited home ground for the senior national football team thus comes as a huge boost for the Black to host Nigeria in the first leg playoff.
It will be recalled in 2013, the Black Stars of Ghana thrashed the Pharaohs of Egypt 6-1 at the Baba Yara sports stadium in the first leg playoff qualify game of the Brazil 2014 FIFA WorldCup.
