Residents of Okubeyeyie leaving in fear of looming disaster of quarry activities in their community

An ongoing quarry activities in Okubeyeyie, a community in the Adoagyiri district in the Nsawam area has left residents in fear-stricken after the unexpected explosion that took place in Apiatse in January 20,2022 leaving residents homeless and injured. Speaking with some residents, they expressed worry as the explosion from the quarry activities have left their homes cracked and defaced. They mentioned that, if the unfortunate incidence that took place in Apiatse should happen in their community is going to result in a disaster and are therefore pleading on the government to do the needful before such incident happens.

Nana Opare, a chief of the Okubeyeyie community also raises concern over the quarry activities in their community. According to him, he had spoken to the quarry company(mansco quarry company) to compensate victims of the explosion but was told to see NADMO where he had initially sent a complaint to them but haven’t received any feed back. He also added that their greatest fear is to fall victims of the explosion just like that of Apiatse, he has therefore called on all officials to bring a solution to their current situation before the unfortunate incidence happens
