Avian Influenza breaks out in Bono Region, kills over 2000 birds (Video)

The Bono Regional Directorate of Agriculture, Mr. Denis Abugri Amenga has confirmed the outbreak of Avian Influenza (H5) at two places in Sunyani and its nearby communities.

According to him, a total of 8,400 infected birds, out of which 2,100 were already dead, have been picked from the two locations, destroyed, and buried by the personnel from the Regional Rapid Response Team (RPHRRT). Dr. Donald Joachim Darko is the regional veterinary officer.

“Poultry farmers are entreated to intensify biosecurity measures at their farms and report any case of a suspected case to the nearest veterinary office” The Directorate advised.
