Reason for total blackout explained
An energy expert Kwadwo Poku has explained why there was a power outage in some parts of Accra and Kumasi.
Speaking on Maakye with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye, he disclosed that, the 161Kb GRIDCO line transmission for Mallam and Winneba had broken down leading to the blackout in some parts of Ghana.
He stated that the grid transmission operates by 50 Megahertz so any time there is electrical disturbances, the electricity system needs to be shut down.
He added that the input and the output should be equal to maintain the 50megahertz.
He noted that he has made several complaints to GRIDCO for his 219/218 voltage but GRIDCO has said that it is from the source.
Mr. Kwadwo Poku, underscored that GRIDCO is not out of their root but they still have challenges.
