GUTA Faces Backlash Over Exclusion of Key Stakeholders

The Abbossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has announced its withdrawal from the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) due to feelings of exclusion and disrespect. The association’s Head of Communications, Mr. Takyie Addo, stated that GUTA has been making major decisions without consulting or informing them, including the recent inauguration of a new GUTA President without an invitation to the Abbossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association.
This decision is a result of GUTA’s consistent disregard for the association’s role and relevance in Ghana’s business community. Mr. Addo emphasized that mutual respect, inclusiveness, and proper communication are essential for effective collaboration among trade associations ¹ ² ³.
The Abbossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association is one of the largest and most influential business bodies in Ghana, and their withdrawal is likely to impact GUTA’s operations and ability to form effective decisions. The association will not reconsider its position until GUTA’s leadership demonstrates respect and a willingness to engage them meaningfully in decision-making processes.
