The American society is not prepared for a female leadership, contradicts the very idea of democracy – Farouk Al Wahab

Farouk Al Wahab, an international diplomatic consultant, has stated that the American elections cannot be trusted, particularly when it comes to the country’s election campaigns, presidential debates, and its influence on the general mindset of American voters.

In a live phone interview on Kessben TV’s Maakye Show on Wednesday, October 6, 2024, he expressed his skepticism about the credibility of U.S. elections.

According to Al Wahab, American democracy is one of the “funniest” in the world. He pointed out that, despite former President Donald Trump facing criminal charges and awaiting possible imprisonment, Americans continue to vote for him. “President Trump has been injured into criminal court offences and is waiting for some years to be jailed, but still, Americans have voted for him,” he said.

Al Wahab acknowledged that while Americans are often seen as global leaders in promoting democratic values, their democracy is failing in certain areas.

He pointed out that Americans, as a society, are still not prepared for female leadership, which, in his view, contradicts the very idea of democracy. “Americans traditionally are not prepared for woman leadership now, which does not speak democracy,” he added.

He further emphasized that American elections are not focused on talks or rhetoric but are heavily influenced by policies such as foreign policy, education, the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the Russia-Ukraine war. “Now, look at a presidential candidate having a position where the rich pay less, and the poor pay more,” he said, criticizing the policies of some U.S. candidates.

While Al Wahab mentioned that he admired certain figures in American politics, he made it clear that, in his view, U.S. elections cannot be trusted. “The elections in America are not to be trusted with regards to their election campaigns,” he said.

He also questioned the fairness of the U.S. Electoral College system, claiming that it did not favour Kamala Harris, the first woman and person of color to be elected vice president.

“The Electoral College did not favor Kamala, and this shows that the Americans are not prepared for women’s government due to their popularity,” he said. Al Wahab added that this reflected the broader issue of gender inequality in American politics.

Al Wahab pointed out that Trump’s continued popularity among voters, despite his controversial remarks, demonstrated that American elections are, in his view, a “joke.” He referred to a past statement by Trump in the 1990s, where he called his own political party “stupid,” yet Americans still voted for him. “If a president who once said in the 1990s his party was stupid, but still Americans voted for him, then it meant the election in America was a joke to him,” Al Wahab said.

He also pointed out the contradiction between the public support for Kamala Harris and her actual performance in the election. “31 of his congressmen, and 30+ of his senators support Kamala Harris, but why did Trump still win? This means the elections in America should not be trusted,” he argued.

In his final thoughts, Al Wahab drew a comparison between the United States and Ghana, stating that both countries are currently struggling to find the right leader. “The United States is like Ghana now, struggling to get the best candidate to lead the country,” he concluded.
