Video: Woman arrested for Child stealing
A woman believed to be in her early forties has been arrested by the Police at Bohyen in Kumasi after she was caught for allegedly stealing a 6-year-old child.
Asumada Darkwa reporting for Kessben FM/TV from Kumasi Bohyen said the incident happened on Tuesday afternoon after the little girl had closed from school and was heading home.
An eyewitness who assisted in the apprehension of the elderly woman, speaking on Breaking News with Ali Baba Dankambari narrated that the woman in her bid to steal the child acted as if she was the mother of the child.
“I was at my workplace lying down under a tree so I saw everything that happened. Pupils had closed from school so the child was heading home and this woman approached the child. She wanted to act as the mother of the child but the child was rejecting her. The child quickly ran to a nearby house for refuge.”
All this while, I noticed what was going on so I quickly followed up to question the woman. The child said the woman is not her mother and luckily the people at the house where the girl entered knew the mother of the girl so they quickly went and informed her grandmother” the eye witness said.
According to Asumadu Darkwah, the woman begun to act like a lunatic after she was caught but that didn’t deny her from been arrested. She’s currently in police custody. The police say they have opened an investigation into the case.
