Our boss is gone, Ghana has lost a gem – Amakye Dede Speaks on demise of Nana Ampadu (Video)

Ghanaian High-life musician Amakye Dede has reacted to the death of his senior colleague Nana Ampadu who died on Tuesday, September 28th, 2021 in Accra.

The legendary Highlife musician speaking in an interview on Kessben 92.9, 93.3 FM/TV with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye said Nana Amapadu has always been his boss, indicating the news of his death really hit him hard.

“I’m currently in my hometown Asante Akyem Agogo where I got the news that our very own Nana Ampadu has passed away. I read the news on social media but I could not believe it so I had to call to find out and unfortunately it was true.”

”I know for some time now, Nana has not been well, but receiving the news yesterday that he has passed away really struck me. Nana Ampadu has always been my boss and in Ghana, there is no musician who does not look up to Nana Ampadu.”

”He’s a true legend and Ghana has lost a gem. I’m preparing to set off to Accra and go meet the family” Amakye Dede said.

The late Nana Kwame Ampadu was a Ghanaian musician credited with numerous popular highlife tracks and he is known to have composed over 800 songs. Ampadu’s “African Brothers Band” was formed in 1963. One of the founding members was Eddie Donkor.
