Ghana, Kenya Stand Together: President Mahama Champions Global African Solidarity

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed the need for deeper Pan-African cooperation and solidarity among African nations and the global African diaspora. He made the remarks today 12th December, 2025 during his official visit to Nairobi, where he is serving as the Special Guest of Honour for Kenya’s 62nd Jamhuri Day celebrations.
Speaking on the importance of unity across the continent and the diaspora, President Mahama stressed that Africa’s progress depends on collective responsibility.
“We must show Pan-African solidarity with all members of the African diaspora,” he said. “And that is why I wish to express the sincerest appreciation of the people of Ghana to the people of Kenya for your timely intervention in Haiti to bring relief to the long-suffering people of Haiti.”
Kenya is leading a multinational security mission to restore stability in Haiti, a gesture Mahama described as a historic example of Africa supporting its extended family across the Atlantic.
He also highlighted Ghana’s own commitments, announcing that troops from the Ghana Armed Forces will support post-hurricane reconstruction efforts in Jamaica.
“Ghana, also in the spirit of Pan-African solidarity, is sending troops from our 48 Engineers Regiment to help Jamaica in its rebuilding effort after the devastating Hurricane Melissa,” President Mahama stated.
Mahama praised Kenya’s growing leadership on the continent, noting that the country continues to be a respected voice within the African Union and other global organisations.
“Kenya continues to be a respected member of the African Union and other international bodies,” he said. “And so Ghana wishes Kenya well on this very auspicious occasion.”
The President’s comments further underscored the shared values and historical bonds linking African nations to their diaspora communities across the world, calling for continuous collaboration in humanitarian, security, and development efforts.
