Sudan PM to keep pushing for peace in Ethiopia

Sudan’s Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok has said he will keep pushing for peace in Ethiopia.

He said the country was reaching out to all sides to reach a compromise and end the conflict.

The nine-month conflict in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray regions has killed thousands of people and displaced millions, with many facing famine conditions.

Sudan is hosting thousands of Ethiopian refugees who have fled the war.

Ethiopia rejected Sudan’s offer to mediate the conflict, saying its trust in some leaders had been “eroded”.

Sudan last week said it had recalled its ambassador for consultations following the rejection.
