No Brazilian top striker will come to Ghana to play for Kotoko – Mariano Barreto

The Portuguese tactician says no good Brazilian striker will fly down to Ghana to play for Ghanaian top club Asante Kotoko.

Striker Michael Vinicius arrived in Ghana to join fellow Brazilian Fabio Gama just before the arrival of Barreto who was appointed to replace sacked Maxwell Konadu.

However, the 26-year old lanky striker’s time at Kotoko was cut short after the Porcupine Warriors terminated his contract before the end of the season.

Barreto reveals he was strongly shocked when the Club decided to sign the Brazilian they deemed to be a top striker to replace Kwame Poku.

“Players from Ghana want to go to Europe, players from Brazil also want to go to Europe. Mostly for Money,” he said on Nhyira FM

“So I was surprised to hear that a top striker from Brazil is coming to replace Kwame Poku at Kotoko.

“When they (Kotoko) told me a top Brazilian striker is to replace Kwame Opoku, I was surprised. Because why could a top striker in Brazil come to Ghana?

The former Black Stars Coach is, however, likely to be fired after failing to win the Ghana Premier League title with the Club.
