MTN FA Cup: Asante Kotoko cruise to quarter-finals after 2-1 win against Asokwa Deportivo

Ghana Premier League giants, Asante Kotoko have booked a place in the quarter-finals of the 2020/2021 MTN FA Cup competition after defeating Asokwa Deportivo 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Porcupine Warriors today hosted the National Division One League outfit at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium to battle for one of the last eight spots in the Round 16 stage.

In a game of two halves, both teams won one half but it was Asante Kotoko that made its impressive first-half performance count.

On the matchday, Brazilian wizard Fabio Gama Dos Santos scored from 12-yards to open the scoring for the home team after 12 minutes into the first half before an equalizer from Evans Adomako sent the side into the break with a comfortable lead.

Although Asokwa Deportivo would win the second half after grabbing a consolation in the 56th minute, Asante Kotoko managed the game well to ensure the team won 2-1 at the end of the 90 minutes.

Today’s narrow win hands the Reds the ticket to play in the quarter-finals of this season’s MTN FA Cup competition.
