He’s only been a Barcelona player for a matter of days, but fans already have plenty to look forward to from Memphis Depay in 2021/22 if his displays at Euro 2020 are anything to go by.
The Dutchman has started all three games for the Netherlands in Group C as they have overcome Ukraine, Austria and North Macedonia to top the group.
Although he didn’t score or register an assist, he showed moments of brilliance in the opening fixture against Ukraine and has scored in both games since.
Playing in a central role, it gives an intriguing insight into what kind of position he could take up under Ronald Koeman at Camp Nou.
His flexibility means that he has the adaptability to move out wide and play on the flanks, as he has done at times for the national team with Georginio Wijnaldum advancing through the middle.
Such movement in his game could be deployed in Barcelona too, with Lionel Messi occupying a deeper attacking role akin to that of Wijnaldum while on international duty, and Memphis fitting in around him.
It is also an opportunity for the 27-year-old to prove his talents at the highest level, having previously struggled to make the grade at Manchester United.
