Man Utd ready to hand Paul Pogba £104m new contract with star hinting he will agree deal
United reportedly want to tie the French midfielder down for another five years
Manchester United fear that Paul Pogba will run down his contract and walk out of Old Trafford for nothing next year.
United are desperate to convince the £89million Frenchman to sign a new deal ahead of the new season after being forced to trigger a 12-month extension in his current agreement.
But their attempts to persuade Pogba and his agent to sign away the peak years of his career have become deadlocked.
The prospect of the 28-year-old leaving Old Trafford for a second time, after honouring his contract, has turned into a nightmare scenario.
And it will have implications for United’s other transfer business.
Pogba made 42 appearances across all competitions last season, contributing six goals and six assists for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
After a slow start to the campaign, the 28-year-old’s role grew in importance as the season wore on and he remains a key player for Solskjaer.
