Andre Ayew will miss crunch clash with rock-bottom Aston Villa

The African ace has headed to France to receive treatment on an ankle problem

Swansea City will go into next week’s pivotal Premier League clash with Aston Villa without Andre Ayew after it was revealed the African ace has headed to France to receive treatment on an ankle problem.
Ayew missed the 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth at the weekend, a result that keeps Swansea still looking for the points to secure their top-flight status for next season.
With a difficult run of fixtures fast approaching, it means there will be huge pressure on the Swans to grab a win against rock-bottom Villa at the Liberty on Saturday.
But while Francesco Guidolin is expected to return to the sidelines for the late afternoon clash having again been told to recover from his recent lung infection at the weekend, Swansea will be without eight-goal Ayew who suffered a turned ankle in last weekend’s victory over Norwich.
Alan Curtis – who stood in for Guidolin on the south coast – said: “Andre turned his ankle last Saturday and he’s out in France to be assessed. I don’t think it’s bad; he’s probably doubtful for next weekend but then it’s the international break so hopefully he will be back by the time we play Stoke (on April 2).”
