CEPS impounds Nigerian truck with smuggled goods at Aflao
Custom officials at Aflao in the Volta region have impounded a Nigerian registered truck transporting smuggled goods to Accra.
The truck which was loaded with wax prints and assorted drinks were intercepted during a routine patrol by the sector Command of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority.
The goods were hidden in compartments in the truck with a Lagos registration number MUS-139-XQ between Akatsi and Dabala junction on the Aflao-Accra highway heading to Accra.
The Aflao sector commander of Customs, Confidence Nyadzi in an interview with Starr News said the driver and conductor of the truck have been detained assisting with investigations.
Mr. Nyadzi said though the bucket of the truck was empty, a critical examination revealed that, metallic compartments were created beneath the vehicle in which the smuggled goods were hidden.
“In fact, it was an empty vehicle but it has some false compartments. After the necessary checks, we suspected there were some concealed items in it so we brought it to Aflao,” he said
