It took 9 months for 'No Tribe' to receive Music Awards prize

Gospel group, No Tribe will finally receive the Ghana Music Awards prize nine months after the event was held.
The group was promised a brand new Kantanka K71 car by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) for winning the Gospel Artiste of the Year award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) held in April this year.
The prize has generated so much controversy in the media over the past nine months due to the delay on the part of MUSIGA to fulfil the promise made to the group.
No Tribe, after waiting for some months without receiving the car from organizers of the VGMA and MUSIGA, questioned why the musicians’ union had failed to release the car and threatened to file a legal suit against them.
Responding to the threat by the gospel group, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Charter House, organizers of the annual Vodafone Music Awards (VGMA), George Quaye, said Charter House had nothing to do with the car prize.
He argued that, Charter House was there to create the platform for artistes to show the world their talent and musical prowess and explained that the car prize was an initiative of MUSIGA with support of Kantanka, something Charter House had no clue about.
MUSIGA swiftly intervened and called on No Tribe to exercise restraint since the union was working tirelessly to ensure that the car was delivered to them.
After some months of media war between the music group and MUSIGA, the union took some members of the group to the premises of Kantanka Automobile where the car was being assembled to witness for themselves the efforts being made by MUSIGA to get them the car.
However, the controversy surrounding the car took a different turn when a management member of Kantanka Automobile allegedly rubbished the claim by MUSIGA that the company had promised to take care of 50% of the cost of the car with MUSIGA paying  the remaining 50%.
After a long drama, MUSIGA had to reluctantly cough out $20,000 to pay for the full cost of the vehicle.
Speaking in an interview with KMJ on Daybreak Hitz (Showbiz Review) on Hitz FM, a member of the group, Nacy believes but for the group’s insistence they would not have received the car.
“It feels good because it tells the whole world that hard work pays, unfortunately there were issues but finally that has been resolved so we give glory to God.”
According to him, in the beginning he was disappointed but when the team visited the place, he realized there were issues and therefore had to be cautious.
He finally expressed the group’s profound gratitude to MUSIGA, their fans and all players in the entertainment industry who supported them during the long wait for the car.
The car will officially be handed over to No Tribe at this year’s ‘United Praiz Concert’ slated for December 24 2015 at the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministries, North Legon in Accra.
