Citizen Vigilante, Martin Amidu, is questioning why government gave investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas a biometric Government Service Passport. “Ghanaians will wish to know which department of the Government the fraudulent and dummy Tiger Eye PI or its other illegal variant works for to have warranted the Government to issue to its CEO a biometric Government Service Passport in Accra in 2013 expiring in 2018 for his foreign travels when he was on the judicial investigations,” he alleged.
According to Wikipedia, a Service Passport is “issued to government employees for work-related travel, and their accompanying dependents.” Mr. Amidu revealed this in a response to the challenge posed by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas on claims that government hired him [Anas] to investigate corruption within the judiciary. Martin Amidu on Monday alleged that the government commissioned Anas and his Tigereye PI team to investigate the judiciary and the legislature during the Mills’ administration. He argued that the Tigereye PI firm is a paid enterprise but Anas refuted the claim and dared Mr. Amidu to back his claim with evidence. He responded by saying “nobody in government commissioned the work. It was our own singular work and effort. It might be difficult for Mr. Amidu and some to believe that we could undertake such a gargantuan task, unaided and unassisted. But those are the facts.” But in his latest epistle, Martin Amidu has mounted a spirited defense of his claim adding that government in 2010 commissioned Anas and his team to carry out the probe. He explained that Anas and his team were engaged after the 2010 Ghana @ 50 acquittals. “The undercover investigations into judicial corruption was a paid enterprise commissioned by the Government after the 2010 Ghana @ 50 acquittals by the High Court; the 2011 misunderstanding arising out of the symposium organized by the National Commission for Civic Education and the reaction of the judicial service to the allegations of corruption made at that forum; and the 2011 acquittal of the suspects in the Ya Na murder trial.”
