Nana Addo to NDC: ‘I’m not sick, i’ll continue to travel’

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, has rubbished claims by some communicators of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC), that he traveled to South Africa to seek medical care. Reports on Friday indicated that the NPP leader was flown to South Africa for an emergency medical care after falling ill.
But addressing some party executives in Accra, Nana Addo said he is healthy to lead the NPP to victory in 2016. “First of all, I knew all of you will be relieved to see me. I am not on a stretcher. I get the impression the NDC do not want me to travel. Every time I am going to travel, [they assume] I am going to see doctors, I am on a stretcher…. I am going to continue to travel.” Nana Addo’s health has been a topical issue in the political circles, with some suggesting that the 70 year-old man,  has serious health issues and will be unable to run an effective campaign to bring the NPP victory in 2016. He has on several occasions clarified that he is good shape and fit to run an effective campaign that will lead to the party’s victory.
He made one of such claims on the Citi Breakfast Show some weeks ago, when he told host of the show, Bernard Avle, that he is healthy and ready to embark on the election campaign for 2016. “I am ready; physically I am in good shape. The atmosphere I believe is favourable for the messages that we are giving and I believe the country is waiting for us to come forward and make a change in the destiny of Ghanaians. I want to be a part of that process of changing the destiny of Ghanaians,” he said.
