Memphis Depay: Has struggled at Manchester United
Cristiano Ronaldo has backed Memphis Depay to fulfill his potential as one of the game’s most exciting talents.
Depay has struggled since joining Manchester United in the summer and taking Ronaldo’s old No.7 shirt, with the Dutch winger not having started in the Premier League for the Red Devils since the defeat at Arsenal over a month ago.
Ronaldo, though, still puts the 21-year-old in the same bracket as the likes of Eden Hazard and Neymar.
“You see many players with potential,” the Real Madrid star told BT Sport.
“Hazard for example, the No.7 of Manchester, Depay, is a good player too, Paul Pogba and maybe Neymar.
“I will mention Martin Odegaard of Madrid for example, at 16 he’s still young but you can see he’s a very good player.”
Ronaldo has again hinted he could return to United one day.
“Why not?” he said. “In football, you never know what will happen tomorrow.
“People know I love Manchester United. It’s great there – they support me a lot.”
