Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp voted best Dutch international of the last 25 years

Former Arsenal striker Dennis Bergkamp has been given the honour of being voted the best Dutch international of the last 25 years by the fans.
Bergkamp, who scored 37 times during his 79 appearances for the the Dutch national side, never managed to win a major tournament during his 10-year service but suffered the heartbreak of semi-final shout-out defeat more than once.
During the 1992 Euro’s the Netherlands lost a semi-final penalty shootout to eventual winners Denmark, Bergkamp scoring the game’s opening goal as well as converting his penalty in the shoot-out in Sweden.
Four years later the former Arsenal striker endured the same fate as the Oranje played out a 1-1 draw with the great Brazil after Patrick Kluivert netted an 87th minute equaliser to cancel out Ronaldo’s strike but again, Holland lost 4-2 on pens despite Bergkamp predictably converting his own spot kick.
The accolade of ‘best Dutch international of the last 25 years’ was voted by the fans on Euro 2016 and to be fair, he’s beaten off some stiff opposition:
