Ajet Nasam missing in court for the 3rd time

For the third time this week, one of the High Court judges indicted in the judicial scandal, Ajet Nasam has failed to appear before the Judicial Committee investigating allegations of bribery against him and six of his suspended colleagues. The Committee could not proceed for three days due to Ajet Nasam’s absence.
A public announcement was made by the Committee through the mass media to notify him to appear before it today [Thursday]. The Committee reportedly sent notices to the remaining implicated judges as well as Anas Aremeyaw Anas to appear before the Committee today. Citi News’ Franklin Badu Jnr who was at court today [Thursday] reported that the committee might “move to cross examine another judge” since Ajet Nasam did not turn up in court today. He also revealed that each implicated judge will be given five days to prove their innocence, adding that during that period, they will be allowed to bring their counsel and also bring other witnesses.
The seven suspended High Court judges are Justices Ajet-Nasam, F. Opoku, Ernest Obimpeh, Ohene Essel, Ayisi Addo, K. Essel Mensah and Ivy Heward-Mills (Mrs). Retired Justices Yaw Ansu Gyeabour and Mohammed Ahmed Mustapha, who were also captured in the investigative video, are being investigated by the police. The 34 judges, magistrates and 146 members of staff of the Judicial Service, police officers and state attorneys were captured in a two-year investigation allegedly taking bribes to undermine justice.
